Tove Jansson – Creating a world-class digital art experience through collaboration
OVERVIEW
Tove Jansson was an artistic prodigy who left a lasting hand-print in Finnish culture that can be felt all around the globe. Though perhaps best known as the creator of the Moomins, she was also a painter, writer, comics artist, illustrator and scriptwriter.
Moomin Characters Ltd. and Kobra Agency partnered with Kokku to plan, concept, develop renewed artist website.

Planning the curated experience
After the workgroup was established we began mapping the features that would support the content writers as well as the development of the visual elements in the site.
Website animations to breathe life into a beautiful design
Being an artist website with tons of visual content, we ensured that website animations supported the experience, rather than making it too overwhelming.
Surprising intro element with parallax scrolling gives a unique introduction to the website. Minimalistic, calm animations in text and content-heavy Story section breathed life into the website layout in both mobile and desktop devices.
A gallery experience for the art enthusiasts
With a lot of high-quality art pieces and photography involved, benchmarking and concept planning in the gallery experience played a big part already in the first steps of the project.
For the audience to feel Tove’s brushstrokes we created a layered gallery experience. The Interactive view allows users to experience each artwork beautifully in detail, on every single screen size.
Empowering the content creators
Well-aligned WordPress element development and customization gave the website writing team the right tools for content management.
AWS integration used by the client was also added to the website to ensure, that Moomin Team could easily manage content between different brand platforms.
